Privacy Policy

Protecting your personal data matters to us. This privacy policy explains which data is processed when you visit storytime.blog, for what purpose and on what legal basis, and what rights you have. It follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Controller

The controller for data processing on this website is Gutenwords LLC, 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA. For any privacy questions you can reach us at press@gutenwords.com.

2. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA. On our behalf, Vercel processes the data your browser transmits for technical reasons (server log files): shortened IP address, date and time of access, the URL requested, the amount of data transferred, the referrer URL, and your browser type and operating system. This data is required for the secure and stable operation of the site and is not combined with other data sources.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing a secure, functioning website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are stored only as long as necessary for these purposes and are then deleted.

3. Data transfers to the USA

As our company and our hosting provider are based in the USA, data is transferred to the USA. Such transfers are based on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR) or, where the provider is certified, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. A level of protection fully equivalent to the European one cannot always be guaranteed in third countries.

4. Cookies

We use only one strictly necessary cookie: "NEXT_LOCALE" stores your preferred language so the site is shown in the right language. It contains no identifier that could recognise you personally and expires after twelve months at the latest. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a user-friendly presentation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); no consent banner is required for this.

We do not use any tracking or marketing cookies, and no cookies from advertising networks.

5. No analytics or tracking tools

We deliberately use no web analytics services (such as Google Analytics), no tracking pixels and no social media plugins. Your behaviour is not tracked across sites.

6. Fonts

All fonts are served locally from our own server. No connection is made to third-party servers (such as Google Fonts), and no data is transferred to third parties.

7. Affiliate links

Some posts contain affiliate or partner links (marked, including technically as "sponsored"). If you click such a link and buy from the partner, the partner may set a cookie to attribute the purchase to us so that we receive a small commission. This processing only takes place after the click, on the partner's website and under the partner's responsibility; the partner's privacy policy then applies. The legal basis for placing the link is our legitimate interest in financing this site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

8. Contacting us

If you contact us by email (press@gutenwords.com), we process your details (email address, name and the content of your message) solely to handle your request. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or, where a contract is involved, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. We delete this data once your request has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

9. Recipients of your data

Our hosting provider (Vercel) has access to the technical data as a processor acting on our behalf. We do not sell your data and do not share it with third parties for advertising purposes.

10. Your rights

You have the right at any time to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), and data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). You may withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. To exercise these rights, simply email press@gutenwords.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state of your residence, workplace or the place of the alleged infringement.

11. Right to object

Where we process data on the basis of legitimate interests, you may object to that processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then stop processing the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests.

12. Data security

The website is served exclusively over encrypted HTTPS (TLS) to protect the transmission of your data.

13. No automated decision-making

We do not carry out automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.

14. Children

This site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16.

15. Updates and changes

We update this privacy policy when necessary to reflect changes in the law or in our processing. The version published on this page applies.
